About:Villa-Lobos is Brasil’s leading musical figure, his music embodies national musical style which mixes folk idioms with European forms. This Choro was written around 1920 and forms part of a series of 17 choros. The is a folk style which is both emotive and virtuosic. Guitar often forms a part of choro groups but there are many choros which were written also for solo guitar. Villa-Lobos participated in the street choro groups in his youth.

Notes: This is a challenging piece with a lot of chromatic movement and jazz-like harmony. There is a characteristic syncopation typical of many choros and also a number of arpeggios flourishes. You can be quite expressive with the music to create lyricism and evoke nostalgia.
