Baden Powell is one of the most celebrated Brazilian guitarists of his time. He wrote and performed bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and música popular brasileira. He rose to prominence firstly in Brazil’s Latin jazz scene collaborating with well known artists of the time. His major breakthrough came with his song  Samba Triste for which Billy Blanco wrote the lyrics for. Other famous pieces include Abração em Madrid”, “Braziliense”, “Canto de Ossanha”, “Casa Velha”, “Consolação”, “Horizon”, “Imagem”, “Lotus”, “Samba”, “Samba Triste”, “Simplesmente”, “Tristeza e solidão”, and “Xangô”.
