Mediterranean Sundance

This is an iconic guitar piece of the Latin guitar world. Three giants of the acoustic and nylon guitar come together to collaborate in a guitar trio. This piece was recorded on a live album and is featured in a number of YouTube videos (see below). The piece is an elaboration of Paco De Lucia’s previous piece called Rio Ancho which he also recorded with Al De Meola. The three guitarists were already famous in their own right but this project had far-reaching effects and popularity.

Mediterranean Sundance has become astable amongst nylon and aspiring Latin fusion guitarists. It is a tricky piece to play as there are many fast bursts which require great picking speed and timing. The majority of the piece is actually improvised so in the sheet music below you will see written out transcriptions of their respective solos.
