El Choclo Guitar Solo

“El Choclo” which means The Corn Cob in Spanish, is a popular song written by Ángel Villoldo, an Argentine musician. It is one of the most popular tangos in Argentina. The piece was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1903 at the elegant restaurant El Americano on Cangallo 966  by the orchestra led by José Luis Roncallo.

The song became popular in the United States under the name “Kiss of Fire” and reached number 1 in the charts with over a million record sales for singer Georgia Gibbs. It was also recorded by many famous musicians including  Louis Armstrong.

Love the tangos you have shown us. They have a very Latin expressiveness about them. I think they have to be played mindful of what a dance pair would be doing. Plenty of light and shade and a well positioned dramatic flourish is what they need. Look forward to seeing u play it.
